More About Parker

adopted to Jackie Bellaire of Toronto on July 25th, 2009

Parker went to Woofstock in Toronto with us June 12, 13 & 14 - He was a very good boy. He rode in a van and stayed in a hotel - with 3 people and 2 other dogs (he had just met). He came and went thru a revolving door and elevator like a pro. Woofstock had thousands of people and dogs at it and he did very well with all the attention - and got lets of petting. He is a wonderful calm boy that will be a wonderful family dog. He loves walks, and is great in the car.

Parker went in to his own foster home 6-6-9 near Goderich.

Parker is a very laid back, mellow boy - who we suspect is at least 6-8 years old. He is 60 lbs now. He does not pull on leash and he rides well in the car. He loves other dogs - alot - and wags his tail happily when meeting them. He also likes people of all ages.

This boy came from Gladwin MI - on May 23, 2009.

Unfortunately when space runs out at the pound he came from have to be euthanized on Thursdays - so we had this boy and Rigsby, a chocolate lab, pulled to spare them. A wonderful person there arranged the vetting we had requested and even arranged transport to get them to the Port Huron border for us to retrieve them on Friday May 22nd. He was extremely thin when he got to the pound weighing in at a mere 45 lbs. He was found tied to a farm gate - no one knows for how long - but clearly it was a long while as he gained 15 lbs in under 4 weeks after intake.

When asked about the 2 boys - they said " He came to the shelter as a stray on 4-27-09 and was up for adoption on 5-4-09. He is about 6 years of age and 45 pounds. He is great with the other dogs here at the shelter. - They added - The GSHP is a little more calm than the lab and he know some manners as well:) He is a great boy. They both do wait until morning to go outside to go potty but they still go outside to outside runs and go on concrete...but when taken to the playyard (that has grass) they both will go right away out there. So we are thinking that maybe they might have been house dogs?!? . The two dogs have been together in the playyard and do great together - we do feed the dogs alone so I am not sure about that but I know they are both fine with people taking their food away from them.

The boys are heartworm tested already and we have had them neutered, vaccinated (inclusive of bordatella) and dewormed

Parker and Rigsby both had severe swelling from their neuters and Parker went to vet 3 days after we got him to get pain meds and antibiotics - He is healing up very well.

Both boys were boostered and Parker was treated with advantage mutli preventative on June 5th.

In order to adopt we do require the dog adoption application to be completed on the adoption page of www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca - Please fill out a dog adoption form here: Dog Form

The adoption fee for inital vetting is $300

When in our care after 4 weeks after the initial exam and vaccines - we boostered, and microchipped as well as treated with parasite prevention - therefore an additional $100 fee applies

Parker is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
