More About Francis

This kitty is currently adored in foster care and NOT at the shelter. Please call foster care hotline at 206-684-0685 to arrange a meeting.

My name is Francis. Friends call me Frannie or Francy. I was given up by my former family- they were not nice. Unfortunately, I had previous injuries to my back legs and being in a cage for several months at the SAS was hard and depressing. When I got out, I couldn’t stand or walk. I’ve worked so hard in foster home to rehabilitate myself. Even with my deformed legs, I now run up and down stairs – of course I’ll do whatever it takes to remind folks I like snacking.

While I feel great now, I just learned I have early stages of kidney disease. I’m on a special diet. I can also tell foster mom is trying to cut out snacks between meals (I’m slightly overweight). Otherwise, I’m super awesome! Big and cute, low maintenance, and relaxed - but I like to talk! I don’t ask a lot from my caregivers; I enjoy their company and don’t need a lot of petting. I don’t mind the other house cats or the dog. They are not aggressive at all so I am not afraid of them. I do hiss at them though for entertainment.

I don’t do well with small children but who can blame me? I would never go to the bathroom anywhere other than a litter box – that would be rude and disgusting - and I keep myself nice and clean. I’ve been declawed (life hasn’t been easy for me) so I need to be indoors. I just want a safe place to lounge about, preferably a sunny spot. I’m the perfect cat for someone who is looking for a low maintenance companion. Despite my medical problems, I think I’ll be around a while.

This cat qualifies for the "Seniors for Seniors" program: Senior Citizens or with a "Gold Card for Healthy Aging," or Disabled Adults with a "FLASH Card," issued by the City of Seattle, may adopt a senior cat (over 6 years old) with no fee for the adoption itself, and the licensing fee will be half-price.
