More about Lan:
Dr. Lin got a phone call from a lady asking for help. She saw a group of 4 little puppies May, Lan, Boot and Ju Ju roaming around on the busy road near the mountain area. When we got to the scene, we only found a very tiny black puppy (May) walked around seemed like looking for something. We called her over and she responded us straight away by running towards us with her tail wagging so hard. We quickly located 3 other puppies down a dried out ditch on the side of the busy road which was quite a height for the puppies to climb up. We were not sure if the puppies felled down the ditch or someone put them down there on purpose.

We opened a can food and the puppies down the ditch seemed like very hungry. We don’t know how long they have been down there. Dr. Lin picked them up one by one and did a quick check to see if any of them were injured. Fortunately they were all well. We put them in the crate and headed back to Dr. Lin’s animal hospital followed by a series of health check up. Everything went very well. They are 4 very healthy and happy puppies. They kept licking us while we were drawing their blood for numerous tests. They didn’t seem mind the needles at all and kept on licking us. Maybe they realized that they are safe now and will not be straying and starving anymore.

These little puppies are 4 months old girls with “white socks” on their legs. Unfortunately most of the people in Taiwan think dogs or cats with “white socks” or “white boots” will bring bad luck to the family so they tend to throw them out in the mountains or near the sea side so they will not be able to find their way home. Actually this is a superstition in Taiwan. These incidents happen a lot here in Taiwan especially in the countryside. And these 4 puppies are females. Most of people in the countryside here do not neuter or spay their dogs and cats. They just throw out the female puppies or kittens and keep the male ones because they do not give birth. I am very shameful to say that in my country there are a lot of dogs and cats been thrown out of the house after they were born because they have white paws. I still don’t understand why this will bring bad luck.

Dr. Lin’s animal hospital is now filled with 42 rescued dogs and puppies and 10 rescued cats and kittens. It is very full but we just could not walk away from these 4 tiny abandoned puppies. They might be hit by cars or been attacked by snakes or even fall down the cliff. It was just too dangerous to leave them right there.

We now can only leave them in Dr. Lin’s ensuite bathroom temporarily. Hopefully we will be able to find them great sweet homes very soon! These sweet girls deserve to be loved and pampered. We promised them that they will go to their forever homes and no one will never ever abandon them again anymore. They love people so much. Whenever we go up to feed them and play with them; they want to be picked up and be cuddled. They have been fairly well-behaved. They eat, play, sleep and repeat the same cycle again. They hardly bark and get along with one another very well.

This is the best time to train puppies and to encourage them to have great interaction with people and other dogs even with cats. These 4 girls love Dr. Lin’s rescued cats and kittens.
