More About Viva-Adopted

ADOPTED 5/31/09: Viva arrived at her home in New Hampshire today. She was adopted by the family that adopted Edsel from us previously. They are going to give her the TLC she needs and forever home she deserves. Have a happy life little Viva.

UPDATE 4/16/09: Viva and her puppies are gaining weight... but they are still very fragile. Sadly, we lost one of the liver and white boys yesterday of an upper respiratory infection. The whole group will be moving from the vet's office to their foster home in Birmingham on 4/18, and we hope they'll thrive there. We have changed the litter theme (thanks to a great suggestion by one of our foster homes) from the Jackson 5 and Janet... to the Fraggles! The babies are now named Mokey (liver and white girl), Gobo (liver and white boy), Boober (lemon and white boy), Red (lemon and white boy), and Wembley (lemon and white boy).

NOTE: We are looking for separate homes for Viva and Gobo... but they LOVE each other and would be happy to go home together.

FYI: All dogs are located in Williamston, MI (which is near Lansing, MI) unless stated otherwise at the top of their petfinder listing. We get dogs from all over the country, so we like to list where they came from as their hometown.

Name: Viva

Breed: English Pointer

Size: 30 lbs (she's a petite Pointer!)

Color: Liver and White

Age: 2 years old

Hometown: Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date arrived at Pointers From Oz: Viva has had a long road to getting to Pointers From Oz. She and her only survivinv son, Gobo, arrived on May 1, 2009.

More pictures: To see all of the pictures we have of Viva, please click on the Pointers From Oz link on this page. Viva will be listed as both a Pointer and an English Pointer with different pictures on each listing. The puppies each have their own pages now too!

Her story: Viva had 11 puppies at the shelter… 5 died at the shelter, and another 5 died at the vet’s office and soon after getting to their temporary foster home in Birmingham, Alabama. Only her son Gobo (named after the Fraggle) remains.

Her personality: Viva is a little shy when you first meet her, but she warms up quickly. Pointers are an easy going breed. They love to play as much as they love being a couch potato. Viva is SUPER cute, loves to snuggle, and would fit into just about any family.

Other dogs: Viva is great with other dogs.

Cats: Viva is good with cats.

Kids: Viva would be a wonderful choice if you have older dog savvy kids (ages 5 and up depending on how calm they are).

Housetraining: Viva is crate trained and house trained.

Fencing Needs: Viva would do well with a standard or invisible fence.

Hunting Potential: Viva is a little shy, hunting is probably not in her future. She just wants to be loved. Remember, our first priority is to find our foster dogs wonderful homes. Birddogs could care less if they go hunting or not, they just want plenty of outdoor time and families that love them. The vast majority of the dogs we adopt go to pet homes, where they are happy to chase and point bug, butterflies, and songbirds. Only about 1% go to hunting homes (where they are still spoiled family members).

Vet Stuff: Viva is up to date on vaccines and tested negative for heartworm. She was spayed on 5/29/09. Like all of our foster dogs, she is current on flea and heartworm preventative.

Adoption Fee: Please click on the Pointers From Oz link on the right of this page for information about our adoption fees.

If you are interested in Viva: If you are interested in talking about Viva and then coming to meet her, please call Erin at (517) 648-1666. After our phone interview, if you seem like a good match, we can set up an appointment for you to come and meet her. Viva and I look forward to hearing from you.

Pointers From Oz is in great need of donations. If you would like to donate, please paypal a donation to pointersfromoz@yahoo.com using the button below. Donations are not tax-deductible at this time.

Viva-Adopted is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
