More About Bear
We were told Bear and Candy are Papillon/Poodle mixes and siblings. Bear appears a little older than Candy. He is 16 lbs, ideal weight is probably 13-14 lbs. He is 4-5 y.o.
Bear was already neutered and we will update his vaccines and do a dental cleaning. He is housetrained and quiet. He has lived in a household with four young boys and their parents but he looked very shell shocked when I visited him there. It was a loud neighborhood as well as a boisterous boy house, Mom was the breadwinner. The kids told me “he never has an expression, he always looks like that” and another child demonstrated the blank stare. It’s a delight to see this dog in his comfort zone. That is when his ears go up.
He has stand up ears with wonderful long wisps of hair on them but his ears are pinned down if he ever thinks about it. I have seen how he acts when he is happy; he does have a tail and he does express how happy he is to see you. He was accustomed to sleeping with one of the boys and did seem to gravitate to the couch if they were sitting down. He seems to be a very nice lap dog.
I really feel Bear has never been in the right home to this day. When Bear is in a household where he is totally loved and his need for cuddle time, exercise and attention to his care are met, expect a metamorphosis of Bear’s personality. He should soar.
AN ADOPTION FEE OF $175 IS REQUIRED FOR BEAR.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
Bear is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
