More About Gilmore

Date of birth: 2002

8/4/09: Gilmore is an absolutely adorable guy with an incredibly sweet and expressive face and big brown eyes. He's a Rottweiler/Shepherd mix and he's 7 years old.

Gilmore is just as sweet as he looks. Sadly, he has arthritis in his hips so he walks like an older dog and isn't able to run and play. He's looking for a home with someone who wants a sweet dog to just hang out with and not a lot of activity. He's very affectionate and he loves to be brushed. He also loves to get treats and he'll catch them in the air! Gilmore gets along with other dogs as long as they're not too playful and jumping up on him.

Gilmore weighs 53 lbs and he has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Gilmore had lived his whole life on a chain prior to coming to the KCK Animal Control shelter after his owner died. We met Gilmore at the city shelter and transferred him to our shelter as part of our Ray of Hope program*. He's a super sweet guy and deserves a loving home with all the comforts.

*Ray of Hope is a partnership between the Humane Society of Greater KC and the Kansas City Kansas Animal Control that has had amazing results: We've reduced KCK Animal Control's euthanasia from 56% to 4%! We utilize a network of rescue groups, other no kill shelters and adoption events. Our clinic provides the spay/neutering and other veterinary care. We need help to cover the costs associated with this life-saving program. If you can help us by donating to Ray of Hope, or by volunteering, please visit our web site at hsgkc.org.

MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...

> Our adoption fee for dogs & puppies is $120. Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (6 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, 5 lbs of Science Diet, toys, and educational materials including an excellent dog training DVD. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please visit the Pet Adoptions page of our web site for more information about our adoption process. An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. You can download a pet adoption application from our web site and then fax or email it back to us.
