More About Bucky

I got an email plea for Bucky, and it literally broke my heart. I see so many dogs that are in need everyday, and frankly it is so overwhelming because realistically I can only help a few at a time. So I go with my gut and I rescue the dogs that I "connect" with. Bucky is one of those dogs, his soulful eyes and his posture while sitting just captured my heart. His story is a sad one. This 3 year old male American Bulldog/Pit Bull Terrier mix was actually saved by the NYC police when they found him tied so tight to a fence post his front feet were literally off the ground, and he was hanging from his neck. His owner was no where in site, and the police didn't stick around to find him knowing that Bucky deserved a better life and treatment than what he was currently enduring. They brought him to the shelter and that is how I came to cross Bucky's path. Everyone that Bucky came into contact with after his arrival was completely charmed with his lovely personality. This boy just melted the hearts of the vet staff, the intake staff, and all the volunteers. The woman that performed his behavior evaluation (and you can guess how many evaluations she does on a daily basis) said she would adopt Bucky herself if she could. He scored a No Concern on his evaluation, showing no food or dog aggression. In fact the helper dog that was used in the evaluation was pretty pushy and dominant, and sweet Bucky approached him in the play position. Bucky weighs in at 64 pounds. When first interacting with Bucky he is a bit quiet and reserved, not outwardly friendly...like he doesn't know what your intentions might be. After soaking up the loving attention he's been given, his tail starts wagging and he visibly relaxes. He knows the command Sit, and does so promptly when asked. He walks well on a leash, with only a mild pull once in a while. Bucky is also housebroken. Unfortunately he does not care for cats, so a home without them is necessary. If you have connected with Bucky, like I have and feel you can give him the loving home and care he deserves, then please contact me (Nanette) at nono19320@yahoo.com or go to our website and fill out an application. Bucky has been neutered, vaccinated for rabies, distemper and bordetella as well as heartworm tested (neg) and microchipped.

Bucky is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
