More About Jake

Look at those ears! Jake has them standing at attention waiting for his forever family to come and get him. He is approximately 8 years old and is ready for an active retirement home. Jake is definitely "Mr. Personality" and he adores: people, petting, walks and playing ball...and playing ball....and playing ball! Currently he accompanies his foster dad to the antique store where he's becoming the official "greeter" -- and loving every minute. When Jake came to us from the shelter he was pretty stiff from arthritis but after a week in a loving, warm foster home, he's moving more comfortably and getting up and down more easily although we suspect he may be on anti-inflammatory meds for the rest of his life. Jake loves going for walks and is great on a leash. He likes all types of toys and treats. After nearly 4 months in shelters, Jake would like a quiet home & preferably one without any other dogs, however he does well with quiet, nonassertive dogs. Jake is mostly deaf, but he does hear some sounds, and he has learned to compensate so well, that it was several weeks before anyone realized he couldn't hear! Deaf dogs make wonderful companions and there are lots of resources for deaf dog families. Securely fenced yards only (no underground fences please!). Australian Cattle Dogs are a unique breed, and we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed before adding one to your family. Adoption fee: $100
