Domestic Short Hair

This shelter is made from a plastic tub lined with 1" styrofoam. A piece of styrofoam can be laid across the top (under the lid) or cut & hot glued to the inside of the lid. For extra insulation straw can be stuffed between the side of the tub and the styrofoam. The size you use depends on the number of cats that will use it. You only want the shelter to give them enough space to turn around and lay comfortably. Their body heat helps warm the space so if the space is too large it won't be as warm. The door is 5x7". This is a good size for cats to get in but to keep raccoons out. It should be 1/3 or so stuffed with straw (not hay) with the straw pushed away from the opening. The cat(s) will pad it down and push some up the walls when they make their nest in it.
