Terrier, Chihuahua [Mix]

Little Cherokee was rescued from Cherokee Dam in Jefferson County. Out of the blue, this little dog that was very timidly hanging around the road to the boat ramp appeared. She was shaking with fear and upon closer inspection you could see she had no hair and open sores and skin hanging off her legs. She was immediately rescued by volunteers and taken to the vet for treatment. Cherokee was in and our of the vet hospital several times until her body began to heal. She was exposed to painful baths as her skin was removed in small sections at a time.
Cherokee has since recovered from her condition and although thin, she has a full coat. She loves everyone and is a very kind and gentle pet. We would give anything if Cherokee had not been dealt the hand of the suffering that she had to endure, however, she is stronger as are we for in our hearts we know what little Cherokee is made of.
Cherokee is housetrained, seeking an extra special loving home, indoors only. She must have a fenced yard to keep her safe during outdoor play.
