More About JEZZY

7-31-09: Jezzy has found her forever home! We are so happy for her.

2-3 years old, 40 pounds (6-12-09)

Jezzy gets along with everyone (dogs, cats, adults, kids) after some “inappropriate” introduction behavior when she first meets new people or dogs. This includes barking and running around crazily — though she has been practicing meeting new people and pets at doggie daycare and this has much improved on recent introductions.

She is everyone’s good friend within a short while. Jezzy is very gentle and loves to snuggle with people. She needs to keep working on her confidence, but she has made great strides in this area too. Truly, all she needs is a home of her own!

Darling Jezzy was picked up as a stray in spring 2008, and sent to a kill shelter to be euthanized. A kind shelter worker brought her home and sought rescue for her. She is a sweet dolly of a dog, very cuddly but also active and a bit unsure at times, about getting to know the big wide world.

Although she has a look typical of deaf Aussies, Jezzy can hear just fine! She's white with red merling and blue eyes. She does have some vision issues of the type often seen in double merle Aussies (a report from the eye specialist is available).

Jezzy is house- and crate-trained, and doing great with her home manners and basic obedience training. She has her vaccinations and has been spayed, and she is taking heartworm prevention. She completed 8 weeks of training at Triple Crown Academy in October 2008.

In November 2008, Jezzy broke her right rear leg in a freak accident. She had surgery and after eight weeks of closely supervised recovery, she healed up completely. The vet released her to normal activities in January, 2009. Jezzy has worked hard all spring and has blossomed into a very sweet and affectionate girl. Her healed leg seems as good as new and offers her no trouble when she runs and plays.

THANK YOU all for your thoughts, prayers and donations. If you'd like to contribute to help pay her $2,000+ vet bill, go to the PayPal link on our Home Page. Or, send a check to: Austin Aussie Rescue, PO Box 10426, Austin TX 78766-1426.
