More About Sono - Sponsors ne
Sono, a female guinea pig, is approximately one year old. She was found as a "stray" the end of August 2008 and brought into a shelter by an animal control officer. Sono then found her way to us and just in the knick of time. She was dehydrated, malnourished and was suffering from vitamin C deficiency. This was just the beginning of her problems. After further examination it was discovered that she had a severe infection in the pads of three of her four feet. Xrays also showed that she had metabolic changes occurring in her lower spine, either from malnourishment or an injury. While Sono can not tell us what happened we are able to determine from the injuries that she must have lived on a wire bottom cage before someone discarded her.
Sono is on antibiotics, pain medication, vitamin C supplementation, fresh vegetables 3 times a day, twice a day feedings of critical care as well as hay and pellets. She is also receiving daily physical therapy to help her regain the mobility of her back legs and will require numerous xrays to monitor the changes in her spine.
Sono has a tough road ahead of her and is handling all her treatments with ease. She eagerly greats her caregiver and never complains. Because of the severity of her condition we don't know yet if she will be adoptable.
If you would like help with Sono's ongoing medical care please contact us.

If you are interested in adopting please take a moment to fill out our adoption application. We must have the completed application first so that we can be certain that the pig(s) will be a good match. The application can be found on our main website www.ctguineapigrescue.org
Guinea pigs are very social animals and require the companionship of another guinea pig and constant interaction with their caregivers.
For the convenience of our adopters (and others) we now have C&C cages available. These cages are the ones that you would receive if you ordered directly from C&C Cages. There are no shipping or handling fees involved. Sue, from Cavy Cages will keep us supplied with an inventory of these cages.
We follow the cage size requirements as outlined on www.cavycages.com and expect all potential adopters to do the same. This is for the mental well being of the guinea pigs.
