More About Dakota

Dakota has been a part of the Jack’s Place family since the day he was born, in August 2008. His mother was a Basset Hound/Lab mix that was rescued from a kill shelter while she was pregnant. It looks like Dakota’s father was a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. All of Dakota’s brothers and sisters have been adopted, so it would be great to find this guy a home, too.

Even though Dakota has some big breeds in his lineage, he only weighs about 35 pounds. He’s very tall and lean, and his pictures make him seem larger than he is.

Dakota is great with children and adults and loves to play fetch. His one personality quirk is that he is afraid of cats. He’s not aggressive to them at all, just scared - he runs away when he sees one coming.

Because Dakota has spent his whole life at the shelter, he will need some extra time to adjust to life with a family. Some patience will be required to show Dakota that a house is a great place to live. Once he figures that out, though, he’ll be the best dog you’ve ever known.

All our puppies are heartworm negative, treated for fleas and ticks, dewormed and treated for earmites before they are placed in a home. Our adoption fee is $150 to help offset medical expenses.

Dakota is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.
