More About Max

Click here to fill out our online adoption application. Max is Shy's sister. He is gentle, sweet, loving and somewhat timid which should improve as he acclimates to this safer environment. Because of the dangerous and neglectful environment that he was in, he required immediate rescue. We suspect that he was attacked by another dog that left a terrible wound on his left hip which has healed completely. The scar is still visible in his picture but the hair is growing back. Max weighs about 40 lbs. and turmed 2 years old in Aug. 09. The non-contagious demadex mange which was stress induced has been successfully treated and cleared. Max is light positive for heart worms. Following our vet's recommendation, Max was placed on an ivermectin based heart worm prevention like Heartguard and should test negative for heart worms soon. Once heart worm negative, he can be placed on adopter’s preference for heart worm prevention. Now all Max needs is you to help him learn that the world can be a safe and loving place.

Note: All applications are processed in the order received, but an adoption is made to the best application received for each of our animals. All applicants must provide a vet reference on the adoption application. If you are adopting a dog from ARFA, a fenced in yard for the dog will be required. Home visits often occur on each adoption. ARFA has the right to deny adoption to any applicant for any reason without explanation. Please remember that the adoption fee is not for purchase of a dog, but rather to cover the medical cost of all dogs in our care.

Max is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
