More About Bambi

Updated pics available at :

http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l53/jorcamash/ Under the album title Bambi Roo.

9/1/08: Bambi and Roo are ready for their forever homes! They MUST be placed together. If you can accomodate both of these deserving girls, please contact the rescue! They show NO signs of their horrible ordeal and would be a great addition to any loving home.

Update 8-11-08: Bambi is gaining weight and strength each day. Still as loveable ( if not even more so) as she has been since she arrived. We should have named her Butter, as she just melts into your arms. She is almost housebroken and will "ask" to go outside. She is calm and well mannered. She ADORES her "surrogate mommy" (a senior beagle) and her best friend and cuddle partner is her sister Roo or my husband. Her favorite toy is a HUGE stuffed unicorn and her squeaky bird. She terrorizes the big dogs by sneaking up on them, stealing their bone and hiding it behind the couch, where they don't fit. She is so eager to please and sensitive to tones of voice. She knows "come" and "sit" now too! She has totally mastered the steps and gets around just wondefully now.Again, we are just AMAZED at her spirit and determination!

The pups are now playing and acting like almost "normal" pups. Their legs are improving and they LOVE to swim in the kiddie pools. Their favorite thing to do is still cuddling with our family when a lap is available.

Update: 8-5-08: Bambi is REALLY doing wonderful today. She is active, playing and of course, wanting to be cuddled and held at all times. She is really making progress! She is now puppy pad trained( what a smart cookie!) and will whine to go outside when loose in the house. What an amazing transformation from the pup we took in less than a week ago! She is walking better, although still constantly tripping over her legs that just can't seem to keep up with her. She is eating well, drinking fine and loves her stuffed toys and of course, her sister is still #1 in her eyes. She is more sensitive to loud noises and activity and will put herself to bed when she is over stimulated by the activity in the house. Thank you all again for your prayers and support!

8-4-08:Update 8-4-08: Bambi is really doing wonderfully today. She too was a bit weak this morning, but seemed better once she got up and about. She was at the vets today with me to pick up her meds for Giardia and I think everyone was amazed at how wonderful they are getting around and how much more like "puppies" they are acting. They are running and playing with toys, although they get tired quickly, they are well on their way to recovery. Bambi was weighed and she is now 10.6 lbs! That is almost 2 lbs gained since friday! Please continue to pray for their recovery!

Update : 8-2-08 : Bambi is doing ok today. She is not as strong as her sister, Roo.She is much more timid and fearful. She just loves to lay against us and snuggle. She wags her little tail and give tiny kisses when we tell her she is such a good girl and gently rub her "airplane ears". We all are very concerned about her legs and the position they are in. All the pups will be seeing an ortho for a consult.

It is sad to watch how tired she gets just walking around the room. She and Bambi slept with us last night, because now that they know there is "Life Outside a Box" they are eager to explore and check out all the new things around them. They will rest in the crate for short periods, but prefer to be close to their caretakers at all times.

We will continue to update their pages daily.

THANK YOU ALL FOR EVERYTHING!

******************************************************

We appreciate all of your donations, prayers and emails that everyone has been sending. We are frantically trying to keep everyone up to date and return all emails/calls. Please forgive our delay in responding to all of your inquiries, someone WILL be in touch!

All donations will be used towards ALL three dogs care, even they are in different rescues. At this time, we feel that we have plenty of donations to cover their immediate medical and daily needs. When they see an orthopedic specialist, we will update their medical and financial needs at that time. If you still wish to donate for these babies, please email us and we can let you know the status of their bills.

Because of the amazing response to the tiny ones needs, we are starting a fund for special need dogs in our rescue and other associate rescues. If you still wish to donate to our special need dogs in general, you may do so at the same paypal address or the vet clinic (410-658-4269). PLEASE BE SURE TO MARK YOUR DONATION AS "JACKSONS FUND".

We encourage you to also consider donating to other rescues who have taken in special need cases. We have a running list of other dogs in need of sponsorship across the country, so please contact us if you would like this information. THANK YOU ALL!

Update : 8-2-08: All pups are doing well and thriving. We are starting an individual listing for each pup and their progress will be updated daily. Look at www.ruff-life.petfinder.com and click on Available Pets on the left hand column. The listings for these 3 will be on the second page under their names "Roo", "Bambi" and "Good JuJu".

Update : 8-1-08~ They have been seen by our vet. We all just can't get over how they survived. In order to be in this condition, our vet believes that they were without food for at least 2-3 weeks! She is hopeful that they will continue to thrive under our care. They are happy little loving pups, amazing after considering their ordeal.

Their baby teeth are rotten and they are not strong enough to go under anesthesia, so will continue to watch for signs of infection and will take action accordingly. Their tiny adult incisors are caked with grime, I will be attempting to brush this gently off in the next few days.

We gave more SQ fluids ( and will continue this in their foster home every hour). They also will continue to be fed small amounts every half hour for the next week. The will not drink on their own, so dehydration is a major concern. We ran all the basic tests on them today and are awaiting the results.

Medically, they are as stable as can be expected at this time and we are hopeful they will survive with minimal lasting effects of their starvation.

The pups are walking on their haunches and will most likely need their legs splinted in a few weeks because their front legs bend out in an "L" shape from the ankle down due to muscle loss and weakness.

You can see every bone, every ligament in their tiny bodies. Bambi weighed in today at 8.6 lbs and Roo at 6.7 lbs.

Thank you all so much for your caring emails, prayers and donations! I will continue to update daily!

Update: 8 pm 7-31-08 : These babies arrived to me tonight. One was sent to a different foster home. I will continue to update about her. To contact the rescue that took pup #3 in, please visit : www.cawl.us ~or~ email her foster mommy at : ohthatpatches@aol.com

The two pups I have now are in horrible condition.I gave them a bath tonight and they cried in pain when the water soaked their bodies. Never in my life have I seen pups in their condition. I am beyond words tonight and can not wrap my mind around this right now to even type. They are being given SQ fluids and a holistic immune boosting diet fed teaspoons at a time. They stink to high heaven, the poor things : ( They smell musky and like rot, I have given them baths and the smell still remains the same. My heart just breaks for them time and again.

We believe they are NOT pitbulls at all, much to my surprise these 7 pound survivors are about 4 1/2 to 5 months old. Their adult incisors are present as well as ones canines. All their teeth are black and rotten at the bases. I think they are whippet/chi mixes.

They are holding down tiny amounts of food and water. They are SO sweet, although they can hardly hold themselves up, they try to climb on my lap to be close. They love eachother and the bond is just amazing!

Please bear with me with the lack of information about all of this as i care for them tonight.I need to focus on them, will update tomorrow. Tonight, please pray they make it through the night and that the heathens that did this to them burns the hottest!

**PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS NEEDED**

We need everyone's prayers and positive thoughts for these three extremely emaciated Pit Bull puppies. They will becoming into rescue TODAY.

They are just 8 weeks old, walking down on their ankles and not able to really support themselves well with their hind legs.

These poor babies are obviously not available for adoption, but need every bit of love and support they can get.

Updates will be posted as more information becomes available.

Bambi is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.
