More About Kiara

Kiara is one of the sweetest dogs that many people have ever met. If she sees someone across the road her tail and her entire body will start wagging in the hopes of meeting them. She is almost 2 years old, spayed, house-trained, crate-trained and she knows her basic commands although "heel" needs some work. She actually likes her crate and will voluntarily "go to her bed" when asked. Kiara is on the submissive side and will not attempt to be the "top dog" in your household which makes her suitable for families or newer dog-owners who don't want or don't completely know how to discipline a more independent, headstrong dog. When in the company of children she is perfect, showering everyone with gentle affection. She loves other dogs and plays nicely with them all. She has NEVER shown any sign of aggression towards any dog or human. She is ok with dog-savy cats, occasionally chasing a bit but mostly just being curious and leaving them alone when told by the cat. She will actually play with self-confident cats if they are so inclined. Many ads for dogs say that the dog is a "shelter favourite", in Kiara's case it is true. She is from a shelter from Ohio without a great deal of financial resources and many dogs yet they still remember her there even though a few months have passed. A very generous woman in Ohio sponsored her to pay for some vet care. She still asks about Kiara. The only thing that keeps her from being described as "perfect" is the fact that she will bark at an approaching dog and become excited. She stops barking as soon as she has met and sniffed the dog. Like most dogs she will bark at dogs passing by the house or when viewed from a car. At the off-leash dog park she stops barking after the first 2 dogs and then she is great, getting along with everyone. An ideal home would be someone at home during part of the day but new owners with the time to exercise this active girl in the morning before work would be fine too. She is very social and is not the type of dog to be happy left alone in the backyard. She has come very close to being adopted several times. She doesn't have unusual eyes or a flashy coat (although her fur is incredibly soft and she has subtle brindle trim) but her temperament is second to none. Kiara is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
