6/11/08 VHS is very sad to report that a few days ago our featured pet, Lucky, suddenly became ill and unexpectedly passed away. He had responded well to his skin treatments so we are uncertain as to the cause, but he was gone within just a few hours and did not suffer. He is now at rest in the on-site pet cemetery at VHS. Lucky came to VHS as a victim of complete neglect and abuse, and with serious medical problems. He put up a great fight and kept his happy spirit through all of his numerous treatments, and at VHS we feel we were the lucky ones to have known him. We are all truly saddened by this latest turn of events. Thank you to everyone who donated to Lucky’s Fund on his behalf. We will continue to dedicate all donations made to this special fund to veterinary expenses for other shelter pets who are in need of short-term medical care. Thank you also to our dedicated staff and volunteers who worked so hard to care for Lucky, and who showed him the love and concern he had never known before. To contribute to Lucky's Fund call the shelter at 520-836-0904. Every penny will help an animal in need.
