More About Rags~ADOPTED

6/10/08 - YAY Rags gets adopted by Nancy & Joe and Herbie & Murphy!!!!

4/2/08 ~ Rags saw his vet again. The lump on his leg was aspirated and the cells were checked quickly. Not all the cells were fatty, meaning we should watch it carefully and most likely have it removed and sent out to pathology. We are still trying to save his left eye. Sometimes he acts like he can see a little bit out of it, and other times he walks right into something. At this time, we are working on switching him over to a few different drops to see which ones work best for him. Other than that he's a normal little wiggle butt.

3/5/08 UPDATE - all was going really well with Rags. In the morning we played with toys, he was going in and out of the doggy door, then, all of a sudden, he was blind. His left eye (the good one) turned blue. He was bumping into walls and very unsure of himself. Our dear vet (Dr. Rossi), squeezed him into his schedule to take a look/see. Rags developed Acute onset glaucoma. The eye was fine one minute and then gone the next. His pressure reading was up in the 80's. That's not good. Right now we are hitting him with all sorts of drops & meds to reduce the pressure and to see if we can restore his sight. If we can, then it can be maintained. If we can't, then our vet will give that eye an injection to stop the pressure for good, and while he'll still be able to have an eye, he will be permanently blind. He feels this is all from Lyme Disease. It's just not fair for this little guy. The GOOD news is that Rags continues to be Raggy Waggy. The tail just keeps on spinning and he's happy. We hope that someone will have the heart to adopt him. He deserves to have his own home where he can be spoiled and give you kisses all day long.

2/28/08 UPDATE ~ I have had my eye removed, a hernia repaired and was neutered. I'm feeling pretty good despite all those surgeries. My personality continues to be happy and playful and loving. He's such a good boy

2/14/08 Update

Here's a little bit about my personality. I'm happy all the time. My body curves into a C shape cause I'm always wagging my nublet. I like to play with a tennis ball now. I will lay next to you like a good boy. BUT, I'm also a clown. Foster mom thinks it's pretty funny when I mess with her desk chair. I rub up on it (I like to scratch my butt on things) and she has this handle on her chair that makes it go up and down, so when I rub on it, her chair lowers to the floor and she laughs and then tells me NO. Hehehehe, I think it's funny. I also like to steal things she's working on. I'm learning to keep away from the cat -- but it's hard. Perhaps my new home shouldn't have one of them.

2/10/08

Rags hasn't had the best life. Let me put it this way. His owners had no right having him. Rags is a cute little red 6-7 year old boy, he's only 23 pounds. He was tied outside in his previous home. The owners were given a warning from animal control to have him vetted. You see, he had a few things that needed attention. Instead, the owners dumped him in a shelter. Nice huh?!?

He was just brought into our foster care today, and our wonderful vet met us at the office so she could look at him and get him started on meds and evaluate his eye. His right eye is horrible. He has glaucoma. It is so swollen that he can't blink. This caused inflammation and an infection. He's blind in that eye, and it is causing some pain. We need to have the eye removed.

As if that wasn't bad enough, he also tested Lyme positive. This could have caused the glaucoma, we aren't sure. His other eye seems fine, the test didn't show high pressure or any issues.

He's being treated for lyme disease and has special drops for the eye until we can schedule his neuter and eye removal. Once it's removed, there will be no pain and he already can't see out of it.

To help us with the funds for this we're having a fundraiser just for him.
