More About Curtis
Some of this may be familiar to you if you have already read about Woody, but my brothers and I ended up at the rescue after we were thrown over a wall at a dog boarding facility. We were only three months old. Thankfully, the owners of the boarding facility are very kind people, and they were willing to keep us until a space opened up at the rescue where I live now. There were three of us, and one of my brothers found a wonderful home rather quickly. Unfortunately, my other brother (Woody) and I have not been so lucky. We are six months old now, and still waiting for someone to come and choose us.
Like Woody mentioned, when we first came to the rescue, we were pretty freaked out. We liked to be together, even though we did get a little tired of the togetherness when it came to dinnertime! The humans at the rescue decided we needed to branch out a little bit, so we each moved into a new run with a new dog friend to sort of break up our dependence on each other. We did great, if I do say so myself!
Now, both Woody and I have our own “apartments”, complete with a girlfriend, and we really prefer it that way. Boys are fun to play with, I guess, but they are also easier to get mad at…so just like my brother, I think I would like to be in a home where I live with a girl dog, or am the only dog. I am still working on being a bit protective of my food (around other dogs, NEVER around humans!), so that is something a family would need to know about me.
You know, Woody and I talked about this before we wrote up our stories, and this is where we got a little stuck. I wish I had some super talents or really great awards to tell you about, but so far I haven’t had the chance to look into any of that. I can’t play the piano with my tail, and I have never been featured in any Who’s Who of the dog world. But I am really really friendly now, and wag my tail like nobody’s business. Between you and me, I think I have a better chance at the World’s Best Ears Award than my brother, but please don’t tell him I said that…he sort of has his heart set on the award.
Well, that’s about it. It doesn’t seem like a lot when you think about it, but I prefer to focus on the fact that once I get into a home of my own with my Forever Family, I will have the chance to really add to my resume. I have heard talk of all these things that dogs get to do when they are Somebody’s Dog, like go swimming and go for car rides and visit with company at Christmas and go to parades. I’m up for it all, if you are willing to give me a chance.
