More About Tootsie

Tootsie
10 years old
Female
16 lbs
Two weeks ago my life long owner left me at a shelter to die. He was gone all the time and I had become too much for the wife to handle along with the kids. Fortunately, as he was leaving the shelter, someone told him about Pug Rescue and he called my new friends at OPRA. They immediately picked me up and took me to their Vet. I did need to go to the vet, but I have to tell you I was really scared there too. I was scared and sick (I don’t think my owner was getting the medication I have to have every day on a regular schedule) and my ears were infected, so I tried to bite all the strangers that were trying to hold me down and poke and prod me. The Vet said I was unmanageable, couldn’t be given medicine orally and probably could not be placed. My foster mom said she thought I was just sick and scared and needed a place to be loved on and safe and asked them to bring me to her. My foster mom was right. Oh sure I still will try to bite the vet if I get a chance. I’m not a big fan of having blood drawn, but I do love to be petted and to have my head rubbed. I let my foster mom pick me up, bath me; clean my ears and cut my nails with no problem. I take my medicine like a trooper as long as it comes wrapped in something good (like cream cheese). My sugar was elevated a little (not a lot) probably from the entire trauma but for now I am on some prescription dog food and will be retested to see if that straightens out. I get along great with the other dogs here and I follow my foster mom around like a little lamb when we are outside and now that I know she loves me, I jump on her for attention and love to lie on her lap and cuddle. My owner told OPRA I have been on Phenobarbital for many years to control seizures and unless I get sick I don’t have seizures as long as I get my medicine. He said the wife had been shutting me up in a room with papers and did not take me out enough. So now I have to be re-potty trained. I am a smart girl though and my foster mom says I am doing great. If you are looking for a little pug girl that really needs to be rescued and you can help me be re-potty trained, I will reward you with all my love and I promise I will only be a little bit of a snapping turtle when I feel threatened. My foster mom says that is because I am a Scorpio Girl (born in November) just like her and Scorpios are known for being snapping turtles.  However, I think it would be best if my new home has no children under 10 because they might not understand me. Please send your application today to adopt me.
My Adoption fee is being waived for a family that will take over and continue my current medical care. My adopter will be required to purchase 1 years worth of heartworm preventative either froom rescue or from a licensed vet.
Any donation made by my adopter will be appreciated.
If you love me but can't adopt me, please send a donation to help my OPRA friends pay for my medical expenses. They sure could use it.

My friends at OPRA are all Volunteers and they are working very hard to find me a good home. So, please do not call them about me until you have submitted an application.
