Meet Moka

How smart do you like your dogs? This 9-year-old yellow Lab, who came to us because of a divorce, settled into his foster home with no problem. A very social guy, somehow everyone who meets him falls in love with him. His age notwithstanding, Moka is a very active, strong dog who is up for anything you want to do. Like all Labs, Moka needs regular exercise, so his foster owner takes him for a daily long walk with a neighbor and his WAG dog. If his foster dad is even the tiniest bit late getting up to go for the constitutional, Moka is there....with his leash in his mouth. Subtle, he ain't. Moka’s other routine on his walk is to check out every house with kids to see if they’re outside, as Moka doesn’t merely like kids: he worships them. Moka is perfectly behaved, except for one thing: he is a professional counter surfer. His foster owner is working hard on this and Moka has already improved. However, the other day, the owner went down to get the mail and got talking with a neighbor. When he came back to the house, he found a fancy plastic bag on the floor that used to have some fancy candies that were supposed to be given to a friend for Valentines Day. The bag was empty. The owner started to scratch his head, because knowing Moka's habits, these candies were in a closed upper kitchen cabinet. He walked into the kitchen and saw the chair that Moka had moved three or four feet over to the cabinet so he could get the bag of candies. We can assure you that the foster owner is a long-time WAG volunteer who is truthful and doesn't drink! If you like your dogs scary smart -- and extremely fun -- Moka is your dude, although we advise child-lock latches on all of your food cabinets and fastidious counter cleaning. We would also be happy to give anyone who adopts Moka a complimentary training session with our consulting trainer to help find Moka better things to do in his spare time. Moka is used to cats and is OK with some other dogs. WAG only accepts applications from New Hampshire residents and from residents of communities in Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts that are on the New Hampshire border.
