Meet Blaze

Beautiful Blaze has found his furever family! Yay, Blaze!!

Meet our sweet boy Blaze. He is a 7-year-old Smooth Collie who is one of the sweetest boys we've ever met. Blaze spent all of his life in an outdoor kennel all day and a crate in the house at night. His new life of indoors in the cold weather, naps on couches, doggie beds and zoomies around the yard are such a joy to watch.

Blaze is an active boy for 7 years old and although he is currently rebuilding some of the lost muscle mass in his back end (from lack of movement over the years) he would like a home that will slowly work from shorter walks to long, adventure walks with him. A big fenced yard to romp around and play "toss my toys" would be wonderful too!

Blaze's foster parents say Blaze is a little bit like a big puppy with his "everything is new" state at the moment. He loves seeing, sniffing, meeting new things.

Blaze spent many years with a dog that didn't like him so much and, as evidenced by the many scars on his face and body, there were some fights. Blaze is now fostered with multiple dogs and will back off when the young female tell him to go away but you can see he is nervous with the older males. We feel he would best thrive in a home either as an only dog or in a home with a laid-back female to play with.

We don't have any experience with how Blaze is with cats but he did meet the very friendly, curious office cat at the vets and while he was interested in sniffing and meeting the cat he certainly wasn't overly excited and no signs he was in any way wanting to chase/harm him. He likely would be fine with a very dog savvy cat in his new home with proper introductions and space.

Blaze loves to cuddle and spent as much time as possible with his people. He is just so very sweet! We'd love to see him in a home where someone was home part days with him and also one that will let him snuggle up on the couch with you. Right now he putters around all day in the work shop with his foster dad and loves it!

Blaze has the beginnings of a cataract in his left eye but the vet feels it is not significant enough to warrant surgery at this time. His left eye is good and therefore he will probably never really need surgery as he will do just fine with full vision in his one eye and partial vision in the other.

Blaze was debarked by his last home but please don't think this means he can't bark at all. His bark is now just an "old man" bark - hoarse and much quieter than a normal Collie bark.

Blaze is fully housetrained, neutered, vaccinated and crate trained. He came to rescue with three hot spots that are being treated and will be having a dental done the week of December 16th. He will be ready for his new home after he recovers from his dental work.

If you think you are that special place that will help Blaze continue to learn about how wonderful life outside of a kennel run can be, please take a moment to fully read the Adoption Process at www.collierescuenetwork.com and the fill in the online application found there.

An adoption fee of $350 applies to all dogs adopted from Collie Rescue Network.
