Meet Keren

SSR is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Nash Correctional Institution and are proudly participating in their 'A New Leash On Life' prison training program. Keren is one of our foster dogs that completed training and she graduated on August 2, 2008. During her time at Nash, Keren learned sit, shake with both paws, down and rollover. She had fun with the agility course, which included walking the bench, climbing and A-Frame, jumping through a tire, placing on a pedestal and then doing her sit, shakes and down.Name: KerenSex: FemaleApprox. DOB: September 5, 2007Weight: Approx. 43 lbs.Coat Color: Tan, Black and WhiteEye Color: BrownEnergy Level: Medium. Keren has a lot of play in her, especially with her siblings Jamie and Lucy but also settles down nicely for quiet time.Personality: Keren is a bit shy and sometimes submissive to other dogs. She may not approach you initially and need some time to warm up but once she does, she loves to follow you and stay on top of what you are doing. She enjoys hanging around the house chewing on Nylabones. Good with Dogs: Yes but is sometimes cautious in her play with them. She runs circles with Jamie and Lucy however. Her best match will be as an only dog or with another canine sibling. Good with Cats: Keren has not been tested with cats but has not displayed a high prey drive either. As a mix, she may do well with cats.Good with Children: Probably but has not been around them in our program. She may be a bit shy with them and startled by loud noises and general toddler play so children 10 years or older may be better for her.Housetrained: YesCrate Trained: YesRides Well in Car: YesLeash Trained: Keren is fantastic on a leash due to her training at Nash Correctional. Basic Obedience: She knows sit, shake with both paws, down and rollover.

Southern Siberian Rescue is based out of Raleigh, NC and serve SE states only (NC, SC, VA, WV, KY, GA, TN) due to our required home check that is part of our review process. We will try to serve other areas, only if there is no comparable Siberian Rescue or Siberian in your area. If we have a volunteer in your area that can do a home check for us, we will ask that you be prepared to drive to Raleigh, NC to meet the foster dog of interest. You will need to bring all of your existing pets and immediate family members to meet our dogs. We need to know that it is a good match for all involved. For local adopters, we will bring the foster dog(s) of interest to you at the home check.

SSR can not and will not hold dogs for anyone. We can’t. If we do, that means another Siberian will die in a shelter because a shelter dogs time is very limited, as is our foster space. We do our best to process applications in the order received and first application gets first interest in our foster dog(s). We understand that there will be scheduling conflicts with home checks and meet and greets with our foster homes and foster dogs and we will accommodate for that if a potential adopter has interest in a particular foster dog in our program.

All Southern Siberian Rescue foster dogs are microchipped, up to date on shots, spay/neutered and on monthly heartworm preventative.
