Mattie is Lab / Shepherd mix who was picked up as a stray puppy back in November 2006. She's been at the shelter almost her entire life and needs a special owner who can teach her that's more to life then living in a cage. Mattie is a favorite with volunteers who she's learned to trust and love.
Unfortunately, living in the shelter so long has made Mattie a little skittish. Her reaction to uncomfortable situations is a fearful nip. So, she would not be good with home with children. Mattie has been adopted twice and got along great with the owner. But, when strangers came into the home, she nipped at them and was sent back. For that reason, Mattie would do best in a home with an experienced owner who could train her with patience and love.
Mattie does get along well with other dogs. Please won't you give her a chance?
