Meet Maeve

Maeve is a special soul. She was dumped/abandoned in a local neighborhood in October of 2021, so sick she couldn't even eat. Some volunteers took her in and nursed her back to health; however, she hated their dog so they brought her to PW to find her forever home!

Most cats adjust to our cat room, even if it takes them many months; however, this has not been the case for Maeve. While she started off angry and combative with other volunteers as well as our resident kitties, she eventually grew used to the volunteers- but never adjusted to having other kitties around. She was so miserable that her health started to decline. She had a chronic snotty nose, became dirty and matted, and struggled to eat. Vet visits and procedures remained inconclusive; so her original foster family took her home in September of 2022 to make her comfortable, and we made an appointment for a quality of life assessment at the vet where we expected to be recommended humane euthanasia due to her condition.

However, at her foster home, Maeve did a complete 180. She started eating- a lot! She felt safe and more comfortable, and allowed herself to be brushed, and her snotty nose wiped. In the few days before her vet appointment, she started to get better, and as all the crustiness and fear went away, Maeve became herself again.

After her vet visit, and extensive blood work, it became clear that the main issue with Maeve's health is not physical. She absolutely needs a home environment WITHOUT other pets or kids to thrive. The pace and stress of our Cat Room was too much for her, and she can not live a healthy life there.

Maeve is incredibly affectionate, alway coming over for pets and neck and chin scratches (her fave)! She loves crunchy treats, and is happy spending the day just napping in a sunny window or near you as you work. She doesn't need much, and when you earn her trust, she will reward you with unwavering love and a fierce loyalty that we can guarantee is worth waiting for.

We know this is a novel, so if you've read this far- THANK YOU! We hope a longer explanation gives Maeve the best chance at finding a forever home or long-term foster that caters to her more specific needs. Right now, Maeve takes a liquid med every three days in her food to help with her chronic congestion and would likely need to stay on this for the foreseeable future.
