Meet Birdie

We are no longer accepting apps on Birdie. Thank you for all the interest!

Finding food around trash cans was not for Birdie!

Birdie was an escape artist who was picked up by animal control several times. Her owner thought it would be best for her to come into rescue after speaking with staff. We’re sure happy she’s snuggled, safe and warm with her foster.

Birdie is 2 years old and absolutely delights everyone she meets! She knows some basic obedience, enjoys snuggles and most certainly is an active girl in the yard! She points and prances when watching birds. Her fosters delight at her antics of seek and find! She has an affectionate greeting with smiles and wags. Birdie takes long walks in the park and enjoys meeting other dogs. Her foster setter brother is a little older but they enjoy playing with squeaky toys together and did we mention “snuggle”?

The crate is her “safe space” and she’s good at hanging out while the humans are at work or running errands. Birdie likes children and loves when her foster grandparents visit. Birdie is house trained and respectful of belongings. She is full of life and always happy. She has a delightful personality and is eager to learn.

Of note, when Birdie was a year old she was hit by a car and suffered several injuries. At her recent vet visit, x-rays showed she healed remarkably well. She does have a slight limp and slow walking should be part of her therapy routine. The vet noted she is underweight and her fosters are working on it!

Fenced(preferably some wooded area)yard required. Cats unknown.

If you are interested in adopting her or another OESR dog, you must complete the application process at www.oesr.org. We will not be able to answer your questions about this dog until you have completed the application process and are approved to adopt.

All adoptive homes must have a fenced yard or other type of containment or boundaries for the dog. Vet and personal reference checks as well as a home visit will be conducted prior to final adoption approval for all OESR dogs.

Adoption fees range from 250.00 to 395.00
