Meet Stache

Stache was turned in to a local vet by a Good Samaritan who found this lonely little stray kitten and realized he needed medical care. He had upper respiratory infection and went into foster care for a couple weeks to receive antibiotics and get healthy. He came back to the shelter November 13 and is now ready to find a real family and real home. He is still a little anxious when we pick him up and is learning to enjoy being cuddled. When we put him back in his cage, he comes crying to us for more attention. He just needs reassurance that he can feel safe with us, forget the fears he picked up in his brief life living outside, and remember how to be a kitten again. He enjoys playtime with another lonely kitten and is well on his way to becoming a loving companion. Because he’s still a little anxious about being picked up, it’s best if he go to a home without small, active toddlers, but older children should be fine. Stache would probably love to have another cat for a companion. He’d most likely be a little frightened of active dogs, but a nice, gentle dog that is not aggressive towards small animals might be the kind of companion Stache would enjoy living with.

Stache has not yet seen a vet or been tested, as he is too young to start vaccinations. For this reason, there is no adoption fee — adopter assumes all medical costs. A state-mandated $75 spay/neuter deposit is required to adopt any kitten, and is fully refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. Deposit may be made by credit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only, and no cash is accepted.
