Herbie the Lovebug Domestic Short Hair Mix Clayville, RI

Herbie the Lovebug arrived at the shelter November 7 and is now neutered and vaccinated and ready for a real family! He’s very young, between 6 and 12 months of age, and super cuddly. He just loves to be hugged and babied. He is still a tiny bit timid and a little unsure of his new surroundings, having just moved into the adoptable cat room on November 15, but when his volunteer friends are near he comes to the front of his cage and chirps at us, asking to be picked up and loved. He will need a brief period of isolation and introduction in any new home, just a few days to adjust to the new surroundings and bond with his new family. He should be fine in a home with other cats and will probably be submissive to them. Older children will know how to love Herbie, but active young toddlers might frighten him. We’re not sure what he thinks of dogs, but if you have a dog and would like to know, shoot us an email and we’ll introduce him to a shelter dog and see what he thinks. He’d probably enjoy living with a gentle, non-aggressive dog that is used to living with cats, especially if it’s the kind of dog that likes to “mother” young cats.

Herbie is neutered, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $50. Fee may be paid by credit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only, and no cash is accepted.
