Meet Piglet
UPDATE 10/4: Please note, we have an approved application for Piglet and Uno, but Piglet is having surgery on his ear on October 15, so they can’t go home until he is done convalescing. We are still accepting applications until then, in the event their approved applicant has a change of heart between now and then.
The shelter recently took in four cats from the home of a woman who lost her battle with cancer. She had rescued a stray family of cats many years ago, and when she became ill last year and could no longer care for all the cats, we took in four of them, and the original four all found homes. Now her remaining beloved cats — Uno, Dos, Annie and Piglet — have lost their lifelong love, and also the only home they have known since they were kittens. Please read their stories and consider adopting one (or two!) of these really nice cats who were left bereft when their lady love passed away in early September. Here is Piglet’s story, in his own words:
“Hi, they call me Piglet, and I’m 8 years old. I know I’m not much to look at, because Uno told me so, but what does she know? She’s only got the one eye. Even if I’m not much to look at, I am SOOOO much to love! I love the humans SOOOO much and especially love nuzzling noses and when the lady humans kiss me. I’ve got this kind of half-tail — it’s not bobbed, but it sure as heck is not as long as other cats’ tails. Kind of a half tail. Maybe more like a one-third tail. NO idea how that happened. I also have a cauliflower ear due to something the people called a ‘hematoma,’ but they tell me my floppy ear makes me look ‘dapper.’ I can’t really see it anyway, so what do I care? I gave myself this big scrape on my forehead when they had to trap me because I was hiding in my old home, I was so scared and worried about my lady, but the doc says it’s healing well and I shouldn’t worry about it. I don’t even know what the heck happened to our old home and the lady I loved, but these ladies here at the shelter are so nice to me, and I am SO happy when they come in to hug me and kiss me and pet me. I don’t need much — I just want a new home with someone who will love me every day. I won’t even mind if there are other cats in the home, because Uno has taught me well that I’m not the boss, and I don’t even want that responsibility. I just want love, and I’m willing to wait in line for it and be your second or even third favorite.”
Piglet is neutered, current on vaccinations, box-trained and tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia. Adoption fee is $50, by credit card or money order payable to “Town of Scituate,” Personal checks accepted only from RI residents. For more information on Piglet, please email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or stop in to see him during visiting hours — Tuesday through Friday 7 to 11 am, and Saturday 10 am to 3 pm.
