Meet Annie

The shelter recently took in four cats from the home of a woman who lost her battle with cancer. She had rescued a stray family of cats many years ago, and when she became ill last year and could no longer care for all the cats, we took in four of them, and the original four all found homes. Now her remaining beloved cats — Uno, Dos, Annie and Piglet — have lost their lifelong love, and also the only home they have known since they were kittens. Please read their stories and consider adopting one (or two!) of these really nice cats who were left bereft when their lady love passed away in early September. Here is Annie’s story, in her own words:

“Hi. I’m Annie. People say I’m so pretty, but also so tragic looking, like I look really worried all the time. Yes, I am very worried because I loved this woman for all 12 years of my life, and I don’t know what happened to her. But I guess this is my home for now, this shelter with cages. I was shy at first, even though I loved it so much when the ladies here came to pick me up and hug me and hold me in their laps. I felt so comforted, and it reminded me of how my lady loved me. Uno says we have to move on now, be happy for the life we once had and make the most of the life we now have, and Uno’s usually right about these things. So I allowed myself to open up to the people here, and am getting happier and more adjusted each day. Uno gets loving first, because she’s Numero Uno, of course, and then Piglet is always second in line for hugs and kisses, and then the people say ‘Annie, come here, your turn for love,’ and it’s like music to my ears and I trot over to them to get my daily dose of sugar. But as much as I appreciate what they’re doing for me here, I miss having hugs and kisses and cuddles all the time. I don’t like to make any fuss, but my heart kind of hurts and the only thing that makes it better is when they hold me tight, kiss my head, and tell me everything will be all right.”

Annie is spayed, current on vaccinations, box-trained and tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and is in good health for a cat her age, with no signs of chronic health issues.
