Meet Kismet (LOCAL adopters ONLY)

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, as there is important information.

If you can see this post, Kismet is still available for adoption. Please continue reading and complete an adoption application, if you are interested. Sending an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available will only delay the processing of your application.

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders within 24 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/*

Kismet is ready and waiting for her very special family. This 3 month old Deaf Great Dane is full of wonder and love, snuggles and her own brand of Happy! Check out what her foster family had to say!

“Kismet is a very sweet very smart deaf Dane puppy. She is pretty laid back as far as puppies go. She enjoys long walks and cuddles on the couch. She is respectful of her foster dog siblings, although she really does like to play with them. She is very interested in our cat, whom is very displeased about Kismet’s presence. She would love to convince the kitty to play, however he does not reciprocate those feelings. She is very affectionate and playful and she will make a wonderful addition to the right family”

>>>>> We typically spay/neuter all dogs and cats before they leave the rescue. However, on the advice of our Veterinarians, as an extra-large breed dog, this pup will not be old enough to be spayed at the time of adoption. As we cannot hold her in foster care for a year (until she is old enough), we will be allowing her adopter to take her home, but will require a commitment to having her spay surgery done by the time she is one year of age. As such, her adopter will be responsible for the full cost of spay. Please check with your Vet regarding this expense prior to deciding on whether or not to adopt. Cost will NOT be an acceptable excuse for not getting the spay done on time. Adoption contracts will be amended to include this information.

Given the above, Kismet will be available for LOCAL adoption ONLY. No exceptions. Additionally, there will be a $200 refundable spay/neuter deposit, to ensure that each family gets their pup spayed/neutered BEFORE they reach one year of age. Please note: a female can come into heat as early as 6 months. You will need to be responsible and keep them close to ensure they do not meet up with an un-neutered male during this time. You do NOT want to end up with a pregnant female. Once we receive proof of spay/neuter (Vet record and photo of surgery site), the $200 will be refunded via the same method it was paid.

*/*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter.

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

For more information about our mission and for an application for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of 300.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
