Río is a 2 year old, dapper little guy who was found on a country road after miraculously surviving being hit by a car! At a whopping 8lbs, Río didn’t get away unscathed and had a broken pelvis and injured femur. He couldn’t walk, but recently had an orthopedic surgery where plates and pins were used to hold the pelvis together. He also had the femoral head removed from the bone because that was not fixable. Río is still recovering in foster care and has some follow up recovery that is still needed. However, Río is expected to make a full recovery. Rio is working on basic house manners such as house/crate training, leash walking, and socialization. He is progressing well with training. Río, like many chihuahuas, is a bit shy at first around new people and dogs, but with time his little personality shines bright. He is looking for a family who understands his needs and will let his personality shine as he recovers.
