Meet Tiny

Tiny is a happy "Mini" size, female Japanese Spitz, weighing about 11 lbs, and she likes to run her own show. She is approx. 3 - 3.5 years old, but acts like a puppy. The best way to describe Tiny is to say that she is "full of piss and vinegar." Tiny has endless energy, she is constantly on the go, will do zoomies in the yard, as well as in the house! She LOVES toys, and needs to have a steady supply, or else she finds "other things" to play with. Tiny is also incredibly curious, so even when there seems to be plenty of doggie toys, she is like a toddler and is always getting into something. Waste baskets, laundry baskets, "craft" baskets - such as yarn, etc, magazines, the kleenex box, bottles of medicine, even a cup of tea, need to be kept out of reach! Yes, Tiny has been known to help herself to a sip of whatever glass, cup, mug is within her reach. Tiny has also stolen shoes, slippers, sandals, and even that coaster that one would put a cup of tea on! She will chew on cords, ear buds, and shoe laces, so having a steady supply of good chew bones is also needed....such as "No-Hide, Raw-Hide," or a size appropriate Himalayan Dog Chew. She loves to play with other dogs similar to her size or slightly bigger....she is NOT a good match for very small breed dogs or large breed dogs. Tiny plays very roughly and on "her terms," she jumps, humps, bites and chews on her doggie playmates. Back to the toys.....she must have toys to keep her busy....but she will also tear them apart, rip them, try to eat them, de-stuff them, de-squeak them, then try to eat the squeaker too. Tiny has the type of personality that we can say, "she beats to her own drum." She is not a snuggle bunny, cuddler, or lap dog by any stretch of one's imagination. Tiny believes that she is in charge, so needs an adopter who can be a leader, giving her needed training and direction, setting expectations for her, and using tough love when needed. She currently sleeps in a dog crate at night and is crated while no one is home to supervise her. Tiny will jump gates and get out of doggie playpens. She is a barker, as the breed often is. Tiny needs to be watched closely when with new people and/or groups of people, she has been known to snap on occasion. Tiny becomes protective of "her person" and will snap at another person's face if someone gets too close while she is being held by her person. She may even jump and snap at someone who gets too close while she's on the ground, near "her person." So simply put, she is not a dog that just anyone can come up to and put their face in her face! This is important to take note of: since Tiny is a smaller dog, white, fluffy and adorable, basically with her "cute looks," she attracts people from near and far to come, sometimes coming on quickly, and want to touch her! No, Tiny needs to be kept safe and out of trouble finding her, in other words, she needs to be set up for success! The ideal home for Tiny is: an adult only home, with someone at home more often than not. (She cannot stay in a crate for 9++ hour work day) NO children, NO dogs under 10 lbs., NO larger breed dogs over 40-45 lbs, NO senior dogs, NO cats, and a house with securely fenced yard in a bonus. (Yard for regular running opportunities to burn some energy.) Apartments, condos, town-homes, duplexes are not ideal if barking will bother neighbors. Tiny needs outside time and needs playdates with other compatible doggie playmates for exercise and social time, plus she needs activities to keep her mind challenged in a positive manner. Plans for training is a must. Tiny is not housebroken, in fact she is being rather stubborn about it....she will go pee & poo on a puppy pad, but is not at all 100% reliable. She may run outside, even pee, then come back inside and pee again. She may pee outside, then come back inside and poop on the floor. Adding Tiny to your home and family is like bringing home a toddler, therefore anyone applying for her should keep this in mind! Thank you for reading!
