Tuk Tuk Chihuahua Mix Palatine, IL

Unlike the 3-wheeled mode of transportation in Thailand, our Tuk Tuk is a 14 pound, approximately 2 and 1/2 year old beautiful brown-eyed Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Tuk Tuk's furrowed brow means he's concentrating really hard on communicating to a forever family that he is the best at snuggling and warming your lap.

Tuk Tuk loves to be snuggled by a human and other dogs, but right now he’s in a foster home where the resident dogs aren't really into that. He likes attention and often follows his humans and other dogs around. In the backyard he explores a bit but checks in frequently. He definitely needs a bit of time to relax and feel more comfortable, but once he knows you, he is extremely playful and easy going: a lovely little dog.

He gets along with the foster's two dogs and is also good with the resident parrot. Tuk Tuk does get scared by sudden movements towards him. He loves snuggles and ear rubs and will happily climb right into a lap, but he tends to back off if someone reaches for him. He will need some time to feel safe through patience, space, and lots of treats and positive reinforcement.

While he does seem to be housebroken, he has had the occasional accident. Tuk Tuk mostly spends time on the couch during the day but sleeps in his crate at night. He does well in his crate when left alone.

Toys are a hit with little Tuk Tuk. His favorite one seems to be the one that makes the paper crinkling sounds. He likes to run after a ball and carry it around, but needs work on bringing it back. He shares toys and hasn't been much of a chewer so far.

If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along. :-)

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.
