Toby Maltese & Miniature Poodle Mix Hood River, OR

Hi everyone!!!
My name is Toby and I need your help. I am
an 8 month old Maltese/poodle mix and all I want for Christmas is to find a forever home. I’ve been told I’m one of the oldest dog breeds known and the most ancient European toy breed. The shelter staff tells me that Phoenician sailors visiting the island of Malta for trading around 1500 B.C. are credited with discovering my ancestors. I am gentle but fearless and I always greet everyone as a friend. I am the quintessential lap dog. I like to think that I am extremely lovable and playful. I know that I enjoy nothing more than to be pampered and praised by my owner. But --- please don’t let my innocent appearance fool you, I can be feisty, bold, and I’m not afraid of larger dogs. While I can be playful and self-confident, I can also make a good watchdog, as I bark at strangers and other dogs. I also like to think I am a very intelligent dog.

My exercise needs can be met with a romp in the courtyard, a short leash-led walk, or vigorous indoor games. My coat may be clipped for easier maintenance and I do require some combing.

I was a little scared when I first got to the shelter but I have since learned the ropes and really enjoy hanging with the staff and playing with the other shelter residents. I know I need someone to work with me so I can be house trained but I am trying!!

I have had my first round of shots and will be going to the neuter party on the 18th of December. My adoption fee is $300.

We are sheltered at the Hukari Animal Shelter in Odell - 3910 Heron Dr, Hood River OR 97031. Adoptions are scheduled by appointment.
