Meet Finn

Finn’s Back Story

Hi, I am Finn. I was found wandering around lost and hungry. I ate what I could find and drank water from creeks and mud puddles. I decided to look for help and went into an elderly woman’s yard. She gave me some food and fresh water. I was so happy! But then a truck came and they loaded me in the back. I was put in a chain link cage with a roof. I was so sad. That didn't last too long, now I have a wonderful OESR foster home in Georgia!

From his foster parents:

When we picked up “Finn” he was very thin and scared. His fur was very course and falling out. It appeared that he had never been in a car, on a leash or had a treat. It was an hour and a half drive home, after about 30 minutes he started to warm up and lick our hands.

Finn had a very rough start. Now he is out of his shell and is a Velcro dog. He wants nothing but to please. He is not food motivated instead prefers interaction and praise. He is very attention motivated.

He does not respond well to negative reprimand and continues seek a “safe place” if he perceives a threat. Further training would benefit Finn as he only wants to please.

Since December, Finn has gained weight and is a healthy size. His coat is soft and shiny. He walks well on a lead and loves going to the store (Tractor Supply) and bark park. He gets along well with our dogs (bloodhound, Irish setter and mini dachshund). He has not been around cats.

Finn loves learning. He loves getting attention playing with his doggie buddies. He will make a great pet for someone who wants a constant companion with a playful personality. As with most young dogs, he needs plenty of energy to work off the puppy zoomies!

If you are interested in adopting Finn or another OESR dog, you must complete the application process at www.oesr.org. We will not be able to answer your questions about this dog until he has been assessed at which time the information will be available here or on our website.

All adoptive homes must have a fenced yard or other type of containment or boundaries for the dog. Vet and personal reference checks as well as a home visit will be conducted prior to final adoption approval for all OESR dogs.

Adoption fee is $395.00 for unaltered pups with $25.00 rebate for proof of spay/neuter and $25.00 rebate for proof of microchip.
