11/13 PUPDATE from foster Dad: https://vadogrescue.blogspot.com/2018/11/clyde.html?fbclid=IwAR0mlixdtmjLVxVBfS5cWraIzaDr8t9iDI46KjDk2dA7ZEEfGqhUNpT7SGM

11/7/18 - Meet Clyde, a 4 year old, black, Great Dane, that came to us from a terrible situation down south, where he was living outside, He was very thin and had horrible skin issues . . . poor guy looked terrible. However, thanks to his wonderful foster Dad, he is now flourishing! He has gained weight, his skin issues are all gone, and his coat has grown back nicely.

Clyde has met children, but doesn't live with any to get a regular dose. We are guessing older children (because of his size, mostly), and certainly extra large dog savvy kids would be the best scenario. This guy is a big goofball and loves to play, but he is a leaner, so a smaller child might unintentionally get knocked over.

This handsome boy will still need some basic obedience training. He had none at all when he came to us, but he is learning. He is currently working with a gentle leader for walks, and is doing very well. We do offer training here at Green Dogs Unleashed, and would love to have him join one of our upcoming classes. You MUST be willing to take him through a professional basic obedience class, at a minimum, whether it's with us, or someplace else that uses positive reinforcement training techniques. NO Shock collars.

He is such a sweetheart! He loves other dogs and plays nicely (as you can see by the pics). He will need room to run and would prefer a large canine playmate. His house manners are awesome, but of course, any big life change (such as moving to a new home) can 'sometimes' cause mishaps for a few days/weeks.

For more information about our mission and for an application for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
