8/23/18 FOSTER PUPDATE:
As of today, Sasha is still looking for her forever home. She has settled down quite a bit, but will still need daily exercise to keep her mentally and physically challenged. She is great with kids, but gets excited easily, so she might be too much for small children. She would never intentionally hurt one, but in her excited state of mind, she could easily knock one over and cause an injury. Sasha will need obedience training. She is still very much a puppy and would be perfect for someone wanting a running/hiking/play partner.

8/12/18 - Sasha just arrived on Friday, 8/10/18. If you can see this post, we have not yet chosen a family for Sasha. Please complete an adoption application if you are interested.

Sasha was found as a stray and was held for a couple of weeks at an over-crowded shelter. When her time was up and no one had come to claim her, GDU stepped up to save her life. This wonderful girl is just waiting to be someone's best friend; someone's running/work/play partner. She is happy and playful, loving, cuddly, smart, and VERY athletic. She will make an awesome family pet, but will need a home where she will have a job, or be involved in some type of active lifestyle. Did I mention she is VERY athletic? A daily walk around the block or even the neighborhood, won't be enough for this pup. She needs to run, and run, and run! She is still in her puppy phase, so is a bit jumpy when she gets excited (which is always) and is a little mouthy, though is pretty soft when she does mouth - she is just playing and doesn't know better . . . yet. Older kids should be okay, but will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Her foster Mom has a cat and Sasha is a little too interested in her, so either a home with no cats, or with a dog-savvy cat would be best.

Sasha doesn't seem to have had much, if any, obedience training, but does have 'sit' down pat. She working on learning this new name (since we don't know what her name was before), but does usually come when called, or to a whistle. This girl LOVES her toys and will carry them around until she finds a great hiding place to tuck them away. She is okay in a crate as long as she can't see you. She has slept soundly in one the past couple of nights, but is pretty anxious to get out once morning comes. Sometimes if you are busy around the house, she will just go in and lay down. She seems to be completely house-trained and will bug you if she has to go out to potty. She is already spayed and ready to find her new family. Sasha is being fostered in Lake Monticello, Palmyra, VA.

*** >>>> Please complete an adoption application for more information about Sasha or any of our animals. For more information about our mission and for an application for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
