Meet Mia

I traveled far and wide and landed with a foster family who gave me the best darn food EVER! Because I was very underweight and had this ear infection, I got super special treats with my medicines. I also got super special food to help me get better. The vet said I probably had couple of litters of pups and I'm about 3. So, my fosters made my birthday the day that OESR got me to them!

It took me a bit to get used to the grass. I had no idea grass was for running and playing! I've learned to come when I'm called(mostly).
Usually, I'm asleep on the tree house bridge. I'm very quiet haven't had an accident(ever)in the house.

I follow the rules and I follow my foster sibs. They've taught me the ropes. We eat together every meal and my foster pets me and rubs my ears sometimes. I don't mind. I'm usually really hungry. I'm not afraid of storms, have a soft little whine when I need to go out if it's not after a meal and just back away from the vacuum. I'm not fond of baths but my foster human said that's ok. I get my nails trimmed and I'm fine.

I love man cubs, the little humans. I especially like when they pet me softly. It's takes me some time to greet the big people.
I don't snarl or anything, I'm just cautious. Generally, I'm a "social butterfly" and will be where my foster humans hang. There are times when voices get loud; I just go to another room and lay quietly. You might find me curled up just about anywhere. But, when I hear "Mia, Mia, Mia" I come scampering.

I'm allowed to roam the house and can be alone. I lay quietly on my bed or a floor; I'm not picky. At night, I have my spot(s). Sometimes I sleep in the bedroom on the floor or sometimes in another room. I sleep really well! Maybe I'm still catching up on my rest from my horrible mess. I think I'd really like to try their bed but haven't. They said maybe my forever human wouldn't want a dog in bed. Bummer. I don't get on the furniture either.

I kinda counter surf, but not really. My foster humans do the "coin shake" and whew, I don't even try.
I can sit perfectly for my treats. I'm learning wait, down, visit, off, leave it and of course working on heel.
My fosters don't use the word "no" very often. "No" really doesn't tell me what I'm doing wrong. I really don't do much wrong-so far.

PS. I'm a great passenger and like to stick my nose out the window. After all the smells, I chill out and curl up for a nap.

Foster comments:
Mia is a laid back girl but still learning how to walk on a leash and play. She'll get her spunk on occasionally but is not by any means a tussle kind of dog. I don't think she'll ever be one to "wrestle" with her humans. She does love affection but when she's done, she's done. Not in a bad way, just quietly goes to be by herself.
She is very fast when she runs and we haven't been outside the fenced yard much (mostly because she was not spayed). She does really well with all kinds of dogs and she's been with all kinds of dogs! Mia was introduced to 2 and 5 year old children and was as gentle as she could be. The children are familiar with dogs.
Mia freezes when in public and is not a fan of going on walks so far. I think this is going to take some time.

She is a gentle dog with a very quiet disposition. We adore her. If you are interested in adopting him or another OESR dog, you must complete the application process at www.oesr.org. We will not be able to answer your questions about this dog until you have completed the application process and are approved to adopt.

All adoptive homes must have a fenced yard or other type of containment or boundaries for the dog. Vet and personal reference checks as well as a home visit will be conducted prior to final adoption approval for all OESR dogs.

Adoption fees range from 250.00 to 395.00
