Looking for the perfect outdoor adventure partner? This classic black
and white rough coat, 7 year old Border Collie is Dozer - and he’s not
just a handsome face. Dozer is also a marvelous fellow. He comes from
working parents but showed little interest as a pup, so came to live
with his family as a companion dog. He has been well loved and cared
for his whole life, living life as a beloved mountain town dog.
Unfortunately, Dozer’s family is dealing with some unexpected life
changes and so he is looking for a new family to love and appreciate
him.
Dozer is, first and foremost, well socialized and well mannered. He is
housetrained, familiar with the basics, and rides well in the car. He
loves being with his people, is polite with everyone he meets, and has
some experience around kids, but has a little handling sensitivity so
will not be placed in a home with smaller children. He is quite versed
in meeting new dogs, and has lived peaceably with another. He hasn’t
shared a household with a cat but has apparently been indifferent to
those he has met, and we hear he shows no interest in horses. Dozer
loves to go for outdoor adventures, and is also quite a ball-a-holic.
He’s in great shape, just under 45 pounds, and like many Border
Collies, will need a good chunk - over an hour - of daily vigorous
exercise to be at his best. He runs alongside a bike like a champ and
trots alongside people rollerblading, too.
Dozer has recently been having some sporadic health challenges and his
full diagnosis is still not totally clear, but he does seem to show
occasional symptoms of megaesophagus. He has had two bouts since the
end of last year, both were treated, and he is currently is happy and
symptom-free. We will be putting prospective adopters in touch with
his vet so they can get as many details as possible. Although his
health may present some unknowns, this boy is a true prize and whoever
is lucky enough to take him home will have themselves a really
outstanding Border Collie.
Dozer is currently located in Jackson, Wyoming, and prospective
