Meet Gunner
Meet Gunner, a handsome 3 year old Harlequin Great Dane. This big boy is currently being fostered in Elora, Ontario. To even consider adopting Gunner, you must have several long couches and a California King-sized bed.
He loves to “nook” stuffed animals and any pillow he can find. He is also very fond of tennis balls. We have been buying the Kong brand so they tend to last longer than 5 minutes!
Gunner walks very well on a leash - with his Sporn Harness. He is very social and loves to meet and greet everyone he comes into contact with on his daily walks. He is also very well behaved when visiting the leash-free dog park. He gets along with most dogs, but does not do well with males who are not neutered.
Gunner sits for treats and is learning to sit when being leashed up. A typical Dane, he can be a little pushy - but just needs a firm “off” or “no” and he backs down. He can be possessive of his toys and pillows. His new owner will have to be familiar with the “trade” game. This behaviour is manageable, but because of it, Gunner will be most comfortable in a home with children older than 12. He should also be an only dog in the house.
Gunner is currently enjoying a 45 minute morning walk and a half hour romp in the dog park in the early evening. This seems to be a good amount of exercise and socialisation for him and it results in a calm, and better behaved dog.
While he does crate, he can be trusted to free-roam.
He’s a beauty!
If you want a sweet dog that loves to cuddle - Gunner is your guy!
