Hi. My name is Bella (it means beautiful and it's pretty spot on). PLEASE read all about me before going forward, as I will require a very special and experienced whackadoodle dog family.

They think I am now about 12/13 months old, and am a sweet, but crazy Labradoodle girl. I live to eat, snuggle, run, and play, and I require a family who will give me a ton of exercise.

I have met a few kids and think they are great, but to be honest, I am still a bit 'mouthy', so until I kick that habit We think that a family with dog-savvy kids be best. I am after all, a whackadoodle.

I love plush chew toys {especially if they squeak} , tennis balls, sticks and chew bones (no rawhide please), I love people and attention, and will take all I can get, and then look for more. If you move, I move. I do fine in the house if you have to go out for a while, but it would probably be a good idea to wear me out before you go, or leave me some toys to play with while you are gone.

They tell me I am a bit short on manners, so I will need someone who is patient and willing to work with me. If you are local, I would love for my new family to take me through the Green Dogs Unleashed Canine 101 class. I think that would help me a LOT ! My foster Mom tells me I have to sit patiently while she fixes and puts my food bowl down, so I know how to sit and am working on 'settle' and 'lay down'. I am also working on not jumping up to give hugs. I love doing that though, especially when I meet a new person. It's hard to learn all these new things, but I sure am trying. Oh, and I know my name and come when called. Of course, most of the time I am already sitting right by your feet, so there isn't much need to call me. hehehe

I will need a fully-fenced yard (not electric), and would love a strong canine playmate who will run and wrestle with me. I do play like a 'big dog', so a new family that understands how 'big dogs' play would be best. I don't mind sharing my toys and love tug of war. I drink lots of water and my metabolism is so high that I eat a LOT. I have to count on you though, to not feed me too much and let me get fat.

I want to snuggle with you on the sofa and sleep snuggled up on the bed. I won't steal the covers and I don't move around a lot ! If I have the opportunity to sit in your lap, or lay on top of you, you can bet I will be there before you know what hit you!!

My foster mom lives in Fluvanna County, VA and says you can get to meet me if you are super amazing and visit the website and fill out an app. I'm totally worth the time I promise!

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
