Meet Katie
Do you ever just stop and ask yourself, "How did this happen? How did I get here?" That's where I am right now. Not to be a Debbie Downer (my name is Katie, by the way, sorry for not introducing myself first), but just a few days ago, I was living with the only family I'd ever known, thinking life is good. Then, BAM, I'm in a kill shelter. WTH? Then, BAM, I'm in a new "foster" home with new people and dogs. I'm just struggling a bit, guys; it's like a divorce, where your spouse comes home one day, and out of the blue announces they are done, they are leaving you. It causes some soul searching.
So, that's where I am. I'm five years old. I weigh 25 pounds. I'm a Beagle mix. I've got a lot going for me. Here I am, learning and working on me, things like crate training, house training, getting along with the other dogs in the house. It's a new start, and there's probably other new things ahead, too, like getting along with cats. Who knows how I'll feel about them? I'll try. That's all I can offer, my willingness to try. To try to love you and your kids like I loved my previous family. To try and fit into your pack and be a good girl, to listen, and to cuddle on your lap. In the end, that's all any of us can do, isn't it? To pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and try again. Thanks for listening to my story.
