Meet Rosie

Posted on 3/30/18

Hi everyone!! My name is Rosie. I am a little bitty Doxie mix puppy. My Mom, sister, brother and I are looking for forever homes. Our pregnant Momma was taken in by an awesome lady who fosters pups in need for this rescue called Green Dogs Unleashed. I'm not sure what that means exactly - none of us are green :) Well, maybe a little green with envy because so many other doggies have homes with wonderful families to call their own.

I'm sure you want to know about our personalities - well, we are 6-week old puppies. Right now we play, wrestle, eat, and go potty - yep, that's about it. We are definitely very sweet and cuddly though. We have met some kids and just LOVE them, mostly because they give us LOTS of attention. If you have kids though, please make sure they are old enough to understand that we might grow up to have kind of long bodies and we have to be handled very carefully to avoid having back problems. They won't be able to just grab us under the arms and drag us around, like kids sometimes want to do. You can see my photo here, but I also asked them to include one of Mom, so you could have some idea of what I might look like. Hehe, yep, I am going to be awfully cute !! Unfortunately, we don't know who Dad was, but I think I look kind of labby or beagly, don't you? It's just a guess though, so please don't hold me to that.

Also, some people don't realize that puppies have to be let outside for a potty break about every hour. Our little bodies just cannot hold it like older dogs, so please consider how you would make that happen if you want to adopt one of us (or any other puppy, for that matter). For now, we are learning to potty on a pad, but we will need some patience so we can learn to go outside, like we are supposed to.

As I mentioned, we are only about 6 weeks old, so it's not quite our time yet. I think that about the middle of May we might be old enough, so please keep reading so that you can go ahead and complete an adoption application. That way we won't have to wait even one day longer to meet you!

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be via email. Please keep an eye on your inbox AND spam folders, just in case. */*/*

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state. However, if the applicant is approved, they must be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

For more information about our mission and for an application for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like la toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
