Meet Kylo & Buck

Kylo & Buck - Brothers from another Mother!

Buck is a senior aged Weim whose best friend is a younger boy named Kylo. Although not blood brothers - they’ve bonded and are being adopted as a pair. For many Weim owners – these dogs are like salt and pepper shakers – you can’t have just one!

Buck & Kylo have been with GLWR for 6 months and are itching to find their forever home.

Both were adopted to great families but returned as they did not settle as solo dogs in the home. (If we’re honest, they were likely depressed from missing each other so much).

After much consideration and behavioral observation, it’s become clear that by living together, these two goofballs provide the much needed support and confidence they both need. Paired, they will thrive in the right home setting – but they are not without challenges.
What you need to know:

Kylo is very leery meeting dogs for the first time – not aggressive at all, but more terrified – he simply shuts down. Because of this, the ideal home for Buck & Kylo will be a rural life without the stress of frequent unfamiliar dog interactions. So, no dog parks, busy trails or sidewalks, or doggie daycare for this guy. The best adopter for this pair will be patient and recognize that it will take time for these dogs to feel comfortable, relax and understand that they’re in their forever home! Best if kids in the home are over 10 and there are no felines or bunnies.

Both dogs can be left alone at home - Buck is a reliable free roamer - Kylo prefers the comfort of his crate. Both dogs walk well with their Sporn No-Pull harnesses and have excellent recall. True to weim nature Buck is prone to chasing cats, squirrels, rabbits but has yet to catch one. He prefers to be fed separately but takes treats side-by-side without issue. Buck sleeps soundly on a dog bed next to his foster mom’s bed – Kylo sleeps in his crate tucked in with his plush blankie and favorite stuffie.

Together Buck & Kylo are rambunctious, playful, and full of life. Buck just celebrated his 10th birthday but don’t let his age fool you, he is a vivacious and energetic guy and gives 2 year old Kylo, a run for his money.
Do you have a great rural home and a big heart to take on these two bosom buddies? If so, they can pack their bags lickety split and be waiting on the front porch for you to give them a ride!

Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all volunteer, nonprofit group whose primary mission is to help with the rescue and placement of Weims in the Great Lakes region; including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

GLWR is headquartered in Michigan with a network of foster homes in our State & Country Chapters. We do not have a shelter that is open for the public to visit. All applicants must be approved before meeting any dog in our foster network.

GLWR does not ship dogs, but if you are willing to travel to meet one of our dogs fostered in one of our Satellite Chapters, then you are welcome to apply for adoption.  All dogs not listed as being fostered in a specific State or Country Chapter, are fostered in Michigan.

Please visit our website at www.GreatLakesWeimRescue.com to see a complete list of weims that are waiting for their forever homes!

The availability status of any Weimaraner listed on our site is subject to change without notice.  Please contact our Adoption and Applications Coordinator for current availability status.
