Kota is a 10-week-old pure-bred male German Shepherd Dog that was given as a gift to someone who did not have time for him. His foster agreed to take him in as a foster dog and find his forever home where he could flourish and get the attention a puppy needs. Kota is your typical happy puppy, brave, social, funny and full of mischief. He is very inquisitive about his new world and has the start of some great social skills. He is looking for an adopter to continue his training as he can be a bit of a mouthy pup (this does not mean barking; this means putting his mouth on you and play biting or mouthing your hand or arm like many puppies do).

The home we are seeking for Kota is one with a playful, social canine companion to teach Kota how to be a great ambassador for his breed. German shepherd experience is definitely a plus. Kota currently lives in a foster home with large and small breed dogs, as well as cats, and is very respectful of both. Kota is crate-trained and eats in his crate, and sleeps through the night in his crate.

You must meet the following criteria to be considered for adoption:
• People who are not collectively gone from home for long, extended hours on a daily basis.
• Another dog in the home for play and companionship.
• Previous breed experience a plus.
• A large wire crate for Kota to be securely left, inside the home, during a transitional phase to a new place, until he can be trusted to be left loose when folk are away from home.
• Applicants must be between 30 and 65 years of age.
• We only adopt dogs as primarily INDOOR dogs no matter the size or how big they get. Dogs can go outside to play, potty, to sun themselves, but should never be excluded to an outside area. We really appreciate when people take the time to teach their dog good house manners, and boundaries, instead of always having dogs outside. You do not need to give a dog the run of the entire house. Doggie doors are a plus.
• Some type of conventional backyard; no patios only please.

A solid 6' fence is required as well as having an appropriate social 'mentor dog' in the home. We suggest a 36 inch wire crate to continue with his puppy crate-training and potty-training, and also, for ongoing structure and boundaries training. If exercise is a particular interest to an adopter, Kota cannot be used as a running dog until the age of two, due to the bone platelets need to form properly, solidify, and become stronger, and also in view of the hip issues that can sometimes follow German Shepherd Dogs. Many people are unaware of an age requirement for dogs to be "exercised" and this includes avid ball chucking over and over.)

Kota has had his first set of shots. Since he is too young to be neutered, a spay/neuter contract will need to be signed at the time of adoption and there will be an adoption fee of $300; in addition, there will be a spay/neuter deposit of $75.00 at which, the deposit will be returned once proof of neuter has been provided. The contract will also include completion of the course of puppy shots by way of the adopter.
