Jenny English Setter Winston-Salem, NC

Jenny is a beautiful 10 year old petite tricolor ES. She weighs 34 lbs and is at a great weight. She does not have any orthopedic disabilities. She does not have any sight issues. She is very affectionate, always wagging her tail and likes to be around her people. She does fine with all people, kids. She does not like to share her space or her people with other dogs. She will growl if another dog invades her space.
Jenny would do best in a home with a retired family or a family who works from home most of the time. She needs to be the only dog in the home. She enjoys walks, romping around in the yard, naps with her people and relaxing on the couch or bed. Occasionally with her excitement and happiness with her person she will get a burst of energy and bounce around and on the couch wagging her tail waiting for pets and praises.
Currently she does not live in a home with a fenced yard and because of her low activity level, is fine with multiple walks throughout the day. She is house trained, does not beg for food, is not destructive, has no interest in toys and can be trusted loose in the home when gone. Jenny also does fine in a crate but will bark. She loves to cuddle and when petted she melts into your hand and into your body or lap if you are sitting next to her while giving her pets. She sleeps the night through and does not have any issues with getting up frequently. She does snore on occasion. She likes to follow her person around and hang out wherever her people are.

HEALTH: Jenny is a diabetic. She is controlled with 7 units of insulin twice a day after her meals. With her diabetes she cannot have treats unless approved by your vet and there is a variety of things she can have as a substitute treat such as unsalted green beans and other veggies. She cannot have snacks or people food. She does not have to be on a prescription diet from the vet. Diabetic dogs just need a diet that is meat based-high protein that is moderately fat and carbohydrate restricted. She is well regulated on Fromm chicken formula currently which can be bought at your local pet store or feed store. Currently a 33 lb of Fromm is around 36.00 and lasts her up to 2 months. She is on Novolin N insulin which can be purchased at your Walmart pharmacy for a cost around 25.00 for a bottle that lasts her around 2 to 2 1/2 mos. The syringes for a box100 are 13.00 at Walmart. She has a home blood glucose monitor that the vet recommended which is a Alpha Trak 2. This does not have to be used daily. It is used for spot checks in the home. A bottle of strips would be all that needs to be ordered if you use the monitor frequently. The cost for her strips is 50.00 for a bottle of 50. She also has a grade I-II heart murmur but is fine and does not require medication for this. She does have a random cough from time to time but it is occasional and not every day.
