Meet Louie
Meet sweet Louie! Louie is a 9-month-old, 33-pound, Australian Shepherd or Border Collie mix. Louie was originally found in a rural Georgia backyard. He was tethered by a logging chain. He had a broken rear left leg. A kind soul noticed this daily and after contacting the home, the owner eventually agreed to surrender him so that he could get the love and attention he so badly needed. We can't be certain but based on his behavior when he was originally surrendered, we think he lived his whole life on that logging chain. By the time he was able to be treated by a vet, his leg was not able to be saved.
Louie would do best in a home with a fenced in yard. He loves his walks and does need them, however, a fenced in yard would allow him to strengthen his leg even more, as well as, to expend his endless amounts of energy. He is good with cats and dogs, but preferably with a submissive dog. He still doesn't have his full confidence, so a confident dog will educate him, help him gain more confidence, and provide him with a playmate. He most likely is good with children, but probably older ones because he is still very much in puppy mode and gets very mouthy when he plays. He is fully house, and crate trained but has a tendency to urinate when scared or overly excited. This is something that time and confidence from his new family will help resolve. Due to this minor issue, it may be best if he is not left alone for long periods of time. He is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.
Despite all that little Louie has been through in his short amount of time here, he still loves life and is the happiest and most optimistic guy! If you are interested in applying for Louie, please fill out an application at www.bcaaofnj.org and tell us why he's the right fit for your family!
