ABOUT LAZARO:
Lazaro's story to this point has been a sad one. You can tell he has had a hard life because he has scars on his head and one back leg is short so he gets around really well on three legs.
Lazaro was rescued from a hoarding property in Puerto Rico. . He was a very, very sad sight so he became a priority to be one of the first dogs we got out of the hoarder's place (over 120 dogs on the property).
Now Lazaro's luck has changed! He has come to Virginia to look for his forever home. Lazzy, as he is called, has been living in foster care - safe and in air-conditioning! Lazzy has been getting lots of love, attention, good food and treats. Although Lazzy has been through a lot, he is still a sweet dog who gets along well with people and with other, non-aggressive dogs. He likes hugs and will happily sleep on your foot (or your bed). He seems to want to play with cats, but does not understand the difference between dog play and cat play, so he would do best in a home without cats.
Lazzy is housetrained and he is very quiet. He may bark when he meets another dog on the walking trail, but in the house he barks very, very infrequently even in response to loud noises. Lazzy sheds very little.
Lazzy walks well on a leash and will wait for you to catch up. Sometimes he gets a bit stubborn and will just stop but a few treats thrown in front of him will get him on his way (personally I think he is trying to teach his walking person to give him treats!).
Although Lazzy only has three legs, he likes to go for walks and can walk a mile and enjoy it.
Can you be the next chapter in Lazaro's life and give him a happy ending in a forever home where he is loved and well-cared-for? Please ask to meet Lazaro. He will touch your heart.
