Meet Bailey

Bailey came in with his sister Paige. Before coming to GLWR he and Paige were required to live in the basement of the house as the owner's spouse did not like large dogs and did not want them upstairs in the family area with her little dogs. They rarely got attention being only let out for potty breaks and missed having human contact. When she decided that they had to go they were going to be sent to the local dog pound. That is when a relative of the owner stepped in to help them. They were moved to the in-laws unheated pole barn and placed in a makeshift pen on cement and given a few weeks for her to find a solution other than the animal pound. You see, they were not really welcome or wanted there either. The relative contacted GLWR and, of course, we stepped right up to help these two lost souls. Bailey and Paige have been together for several years and ideally we would love to have them stay together but in the right environment they will do okay separated from each other as well.

Bailey is a big lover boy who wants to always be where you are. He is able to be allowed to free roam the house and safe to wander on his own (he normally sleeps when you are not home). When outside with him once he is bonded he has great recall. He loves to go for walks outdoors and amble around sniffing whatever is in the air. While he does okay with other dogs in the home if not placed with his sister Paige he may do best as an only dog. Sometimes when napping or sleeping if he is approached or startled by another dog he can get grumbly and may growl or snap at them. He does mind and listens well to his humans and likes to please. Bailey especially loves children! He is a bigger blue boy and while his health overall is good he does have some rough skin patches and scars on this elbows and legs from his years living on cement. Also, as typical for more senior weims he has a few fatty lumps and bumps out as well. Overall, Bailey is looking for a loving lower activity home where he can enjoy being loved, spoiled and pampered a bit. If you think you might like to welcome Bailey to your home and family (perhaps with sister Paige too?) please contact us - we would love to talk with you!

Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all volunteer, nonprofit group whose primary mission is to help with the rescue and placement of Weims in the Great Lakes region; including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

GLWR is headquartered in Michigan with a network of foster homes in our State & Country Chapters. We do not have a shelter that is open for the public to visit. All applicants must be approved before meeting any dog in our foster network.

GLWR does not ship dogs, but if you are willing to travel to meet one of our dogs fostered in one of our Satellite Chapters, then you are welcome to apply for adoption. All dogs not listed as being fostered in a specific State or Country Chapter, are fostered in Michigan.

Please visit our website at www.GreatLakesWeimRescue.com to see a complete list of weims that are waiting for their forever homes! The availability status of any Weimaraner listed on our site is subject to change without notice. Please contact our Adoption and Applications Coordinator for current availability status.
